  • The Local Music Show, Seattle Channel 21: Host
  • John Richards Music: Partner

John Richards is one of the most influential DJ’s in the country. As host of KEXP’s Morning show for the past decade, John in the Morning has been breaking bands and changing the way we listen to radio. Richards was instrumental in expanding KEXP’s audience through its strong on-line presence and has raised more funds for public radio on air than any other DJ while building the station’s core membership base. Today KEXP is an Internet leader with a worldwide audience and a bi-costal fan base through an affiliation with Radio New York where his show is broadcast live daily.

John has also worked in the music industry for years, creating his own independent record label, Loveless Records, as well as working closely with Gary Gersh signing bands to various labels as an A&R Rep. John also writes for various sites and publications including NPR and Seattle Sound Magazine.

As host of The Local Music Show on Seattle Channel 21, now in its second year, John’s encyclopedic musical knowledge and laid-back style allow guests to open up achieving entertaining and honest interviews. Richards’ ability to recognize talent combined with his position as a tastemaker, lend credibility and an instant following.

Now Richards has started his own company, John Richards Music, with business partner, Amy Lindsey (formerly of KEXP and One Reel/ Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival), to include music supervision, curation and events. This dynamic duo has been working together on various music projects for years in Seattle and will now channel that energy into the new company coast to coast.
