So when you have Questlove tell you that he’s into the station, just got off the plane, is staying at the Ace and wants to DJ you tell him what? You tell him yes, very much so. Sitting here listening to him mix is a thing of DJ beauty. What a great day. Did the Morning Show, had amazing bands on and been here just soaking it in….and being the curators of the mix at the Ace it makes it all the sweeter as it confirms that this place is about the music. Which is so refreshing for any business let alone a great hotel like this. I sacrificed my happy hour slot for ?uest tonight, mostly because there is no way I can follow him. Its like playing after U2. No thank you. I’ll just sit here and enjoy.

Sitting here at the Cutting Room Studios in New York City as part of KEXP’s CMJ broadcast. Amy and I are hanging post show figuring out the plan for the day. I’m guessing it will involve music and food…probably not in that order. Anyway, great to have an outlet to get out information about music I’m excited about and all that is going on with Pair Music Collective. If you’re familiar with my work at KEXP, this is something outside of that but very much in line with what I do programming music. Amy and I couldn’t be more excited to bring music to places outside of radio and on line. So far we’ve been involved in a number of projects including curating music for The Ace Hotel in NYC and Palm Springs and doing work with movie music supervision. Currently we’re working on Grassroots, a new film that has a major music theme running through it. More on that soon. We’ve also decided to destroy the wedding DJ. We recently got married ourselves which is part of our motivation to change the way music is done at what some would say is the most important day of a person’s life. So we’ve done a few and made sure that what comes first is an amazing soundtrack that represents YOU, not what people think you are supposed to sound like. We just want good music everywhere and we’ll keep at it til that happens. More soon -john
